Going Over and Going Under

Auggie is becoming a skilled crawler! He's able to crawl over my legs and attempt to crawl over my body when I'm laying on the floor. When he gets to edge of the carpet (where the linoleum begins), he starts bear crawling. We have a small rug over the edges since there's an Ethernet cord running into the living room and I always tripped over it. I guess, Auggie doesn't like the feel of the rug because he stops bear crawling and then crawls normally on the linoleum.

Sunday, he began trying to crawl under things. He crawled under MawMaw and PawPaw's coffee table.  Monday, he crawled under our coffee table and his exersaucer. By the end of the day, I think he learned to keep his head down at certain points when he's under the coffee table.

Auggie's teeth have really been bothering him lately. Or, well, I should say his gums have been bothering him because he still hasn't had a tooth come through. It just makes me wonder, have they not come through because of the Treacher-Collins or are they just taking their sweet (but painful) time.  Tim and I feel so bad for him when he's really fussy because his gums are bothering him.

Our Fourth of July was just another day. We didn't do anything. I was tired all day (I didn't fall asleep until 3 am and even then it was a horrible sleep!) and Auggie wasn't exactly in the best of moods. The city of College Station was putting on a laser light show at the Amphitheater and the George Bush Library. We would have gone but Auggie's bed time was before the events started. I'm sure they were good but 4th of July is nothing without fireworks... Okay- it is something- we get to celebrate our freedom and honor the people who help keep us free but you know what I mean. Fireworks are a tradition I hated growing up but now love them.

Auggie got to wear his 4th of July onesie for most of the day... and it actually said "MY 1st 4th of July!" For some reason it is so hard to find first outfits that say "My 1st..." Most of them say "Baby's 1st..." I don't know why it drives me nuts but it does.. Thank you Wal Mart for your $3 onesie! He'll probably wear it again later today.

A Fire Wheel came up in the front flower bed just in time for the holiday!
We went to Giddings on Saturday to celebrate the baptism of Joseph Cole Kalbas. He was absolutely adorable! I was so glad we were able to attend their celebration!

After the baptism celebration, we hung out for the day since everyone was in town. It was a nice day to be outside with everyone!

Auggie should get a Gold Star this Week

Not in sleeping, though.. but crawling and pulling up on everything! Monday morning he crawled across the living room to Tim without his belly touching the ground! Then after Tim left for work, Auggie pulled up on the coffee table completely unassisted! He is getting so good at the things he's been working on.

Our night times got significantly better before we went to Georgia. I'm sure Auggie didn't like sleeping in the pack-n-play but now that we're home he's sleeping better. Saturday night was a flashback from Auggie's younger days- he woke up about every 45 minutes to an hour crying. It was no fun. I'm sure Jessica and Ben didn't appreciate it either. I know if we stay home more often at night it'll get better. Thank goodness Giddings is only an hour away! Hopefully in the next week or so Auggie will get back to going to sleep around 9:30 pm and then waking up at 6 to eat and then going back to sleep until 10 am. That'd be nice! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed.

Meal time is a lot more productive. He eats his puffs after he eats some fruit. He's still not good at eating veggies yet. He gets more frustrated with them than the fruits, so I'll stick to fruits for a little bit more. I just need to get on a better schedule. How do you get on a schedule when you're not a routine type person?! It's frustrating but really annoying that I can't keep to a schedule. Any tips?

Auggie's working on his first tooth still. We think he's been teething for a few months now but you can see the little tooth trying to come up. There's a little white head on the bottom right. He has some days where he constantly has something in his mouth (hands, feet, paci, blanket or something!) and drools all over. Other days it doesn't even seem to bother him.

We spent the weekend in Giddings with Tim's family. Darren, Tim's cousin/Giddings neighbor and our new neighbor in College Station, had his high school graduation party. It was a great night. I think Auggie enjoyed being outside with all his cousins and being passed around. I'm sure the next family gathering will be a busy busy busy one since he's already crawling.

I'll update again on Thursday with some more pictures...

Auggie's Loaner BAHA!

We met a lady through Facebook group and Yahoo! groups who was nice enough to lend us a BAHA for Auggie until we are able to get his own.

We can't thank Judy enough for sending it to us!

It made me so happy to see Auggie look at Tim when he spoke! I was surprised I didn't cry but man, was I happy! He enjoyed bouncing and bending his knees when he had the BAHA on. I just loved seeing that!

We also received some good news from the insurance... After almost 6.5 weeks after his hearing test, Auggie is approved for his own BAHA! Now all we need to do is schedule an appointment with the audiologist to order his BAHA. I can't wait. My mom is coming in town this week so hopefully she'll teach me how to use my sewing machine so I can start making his headbands.

We had a great time over Easter weekend. We were able to see some friends and all our family. It sure is tiring even though we got to spend a couple days in La Porte and in Giddings. I'm pretty sure Auggie enjoyed his first holiday with the families.... He better because there are plenty more coming up!

Somer, my neighbor growing up, has a daughter (Delaney) 3 weeks younger than Auggie. We were finally able to meet each other over the weekend!
