Auggie qualified for the PPCD program in College Station! He started the day after his 3rd birthday. He'll be going 5 days a week for about 3 hours each day. Last week was only 4 because they had a half day on Wednesday (who does half days in the middle of the week??).
Dropping him off has gotten better with each day. This week he has been excited to go. He seems to really like his teachers.
Tim & I can both tell he's changed even with today being his 6 day. We haven't gotten him to tell what he does during school but he'll answer "yesh" to all the questions.. even if he didn't do it.
Be prepared for a few more posts this week.. I'm trying to catch up!
Auggie finally had his first haircut Febrary 15! I was not looking forward to getting it cut since we all know toddlers hardly stay still. Plus, I didn't want it to look terrible.
I got a few suggestions from friends in town for places to go and we ended up going to Tejas Cuts in Bryan. They were small and not busy. They even had a race car for him to sit in and a TV to watch... But guess, what?! He wasn't having any of that!
Auggie ended up sitting on my lap and refusing the cape. We were both covered in hair by the end of the appointment (even though I wore a cape). I was surprised he actually sat still for the most part. I think the scissors tickled him a bit when the hair dresser was cutting the back. He'd shrug his shoulders and roll his head over side to side. Overall, I was happy about the cut even though she missed a chunk at the back. She did the best she could with a 2 year old!

I have been having such a hard time getting Auggie to nap this week. I understand Saturday was a strange day since we were in the car... But Tuesday and today were regular days! He ended up not napping on Tuesday and then had a hard time going to bed for the night!
We met up with Shannon and Gavin (from the Mom's group) at Bee Creek Park this morning. There was an elementary school field trip there, too. Auggie enjoyed running around with the big kids. He didn't want to sit and enjoy his apples with Gavin so he ran around instead. I don't think he even noticed I was there most of the time! By the time we left, Auggie was definitely ready to fall asleep. And here it is, 45 minutes later, and he's talking to himself in his crib... instead of sleeping!

While we were at the park, Auggie signed "bicycle" as a guy riding his bike went by. It was so cute! I'm glad his signing and words are progressing more and more. He has an appointment next week with the speech therapist at Dell Children's to assess his speech. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news!

I updated Auggie's list of signs. He has a total of 52 now! I can't believe it! He's doing so well with them!
Auggie is already down for a nap since he screamed for 10 minutes after Tim left for work. Then screamed some more because he couldn't get his car through the chair.... So I won't get into any more details about today...
This is the car he tried pushing under one of our dining room chairs.. Don't think that fits, Little Bear!
Auggie is getting better at signing. He signs "hot" when we're messing with the microwave, stove, oven or toaster. He's also signing it when we have steamy food. Tim taught him "grass" and he's recognizing a crescent shape as "moon." This morning during his appointment with Melinda, he signed "cookie" then "eat"! He's only signed two signs together a couple of times. We're getting there! YAY!
Auggie signed "cookie" then "eat" after he heard the microwave go off with Tim's breakfast. Melinda noticed it and then we all kinda came to the same conclusion. I'm sure he wanted a waffle but he got a graham cracker instead. (our toaster broke sometime between breakfast Sunday and breakfast Monday) The other night he grabbed a snack pack out of the cupboard and actually wanted to eat it! We gave him a spoon, sat him in the high chair and the video below shows how well he did! Most of the time if he grabs something like that, he just wants to play with it.
ahhh... all done!
We went to the pool on Sunday. It was a little breezy so it made the water feel even colder. The water felt great once you warmed up to it but once you got out... BRRRRRR! Auggie wasn't too sure about it at first but when it was time to leave, he was not having it! We're planning on getting a family pass to the pool down the road from us so we can go anytime.

Tim had to work all day Saturday so I took Auggie to Liz's wedding shower in Sugar Land. We left during what was supposed to have been nap time... but of course, that didn't work out. There were several times during the 1.5 hour trip when I looked back and saw his eyes almost closed and then something would catch his attention. By the time we got to Sugar Land, he was ready to be out and I was so worried about how his attitude was going to be once we got to the country club. But my worries were useless... Auggie was absolutely perfect! He loved the attention from all the women. He even showed off with his signs and even ate some watermelon and bunt cake! He was asleep in the car by the time we got to First Colony Mall.. For those of you who don't know Sugar Land... the mall is like 2 exits down from where we were! He slept most of the way home including the 45 minutes it took me to find a decently priced gas station and a Walgreens for money for the toll road. I was so happy the day went well... I didn't get to talk as much as I wanted but that happens when you're chasing around an almost 18 month old!

Auggie absolutely loves being outside. I know that is probably one of the reasons he was so upset when Tim left this morning- he couldn't go outside. He saw a helicopter when we were out earlier and he got very excited. He heard it at first and kept looking around to find it. Once he found it, he signed "airplane" but I showed him "helicopter." He signed it after I did.
Cars and trains... and, well, anything he can roll have been his go-to toys lately. He likes to push them around outside, around the edge of the coffee table and even on the back support of our futon. He even started pulling pull toys (a wagon for his wooden blocks and a pull toy dog).
It sounds like Auggie is actually up so I will leave you with some pictures until Thursday!

We spent the beginning of a beautiful weekend with Molly and Ray. We weren't too sure how the weather was going to hold up but it ended up being a gorgeous day! I got a nap in while it rained and Auggie kept pushing through his tiredness. He eventually fell asleep in the middle of a peek-a-boo session with Molly. Tim always enjoys being outside and away from any city-like location.
While Auggie napped, Tim and I walked around the property with the dogs. I wanted to get some pretty pictures and Tim wanted pictures of some little toads in one section of the property.

I am very pleased with how a couple of those pictures turned
out. I especially like the one with the grasshopper and the one of the
butterfly in the very top photo. Maybe I’ll have something to add to the Milam
County Nature Festival next year.
Tim watched Auggie Saturday while I helped my friend,
Heather, photograph a wedding in Waller. I am so glad I was able to do that.
It was fun and so nice seeing Heather. I miss hanging out with her! Auggie got
to hang out with Zane and Jen Saturday evening while Tim and Dan watched a
rugby game in The Woodlands. I received a text message from Jen that evening
with a picture of Auggie eating at her dinner table. I was so confused! I had
no idea Tim had dropped him off. Auggie enjoyed being there. He and Zane are really
good about playing with each other (or leaning on each other like they have in
the past;). It is so nice to have a few friends around with kiddos Auggie’s
age.

Auggie is feeling much better this week. His attitude has
completely changed towards diaper changes- thank goodness! He’s continuing to
babble quite a bit. I love when he says “butterfly.” He moves his hands around
like they’re fluttering and then he says “butterfly” and attempts to find one
in the area. We have one in our living room so he can usually find that one.
Tim introduced Auggie into fig newtons last week. YUM!
Instead of paying almost $3 for the Nabisco brand, we found some off brand ones
that are just as good and are only $1! Sounds a lot better. They’re 100
calories per 2 cookies so if he continues to eat them like he is now, he’ll be
adding a bit of weight! We’re really hoping we can encourage him to eat more so
we get him off of formula.
Auggie has started to like brushing his teeth after his
nighttime bath. He gets all cuddled into his froggy towel and then reaches for
a tooth brush. He usually likes it when either Tim or I brush our teeth, too.
I’m hoping that habit sticks! He doesn’t need to have terrible teeth!
I should have a post on Thursday... I need to finish quite a few projects for clients and then catch up on some chores around the house... so we'll see!
