Fussy Days

No.. I'm not talking about me.

Auggie's teeth have really been bothering him. That has pretty much been the story of the last couple of days. I wish something would help... We've tried

  • ice
  • frozen toys/pacis/teethers
  • frozen fruit/veggies
  • orajel
  • unfrozen toys
  • the mesh teethers where you put fruit or ice in them
Nothing seems to do the trick. Poor little guy!

Tuesday night, Tim watched Auggie while I went out with the Moms' group! I had a great time! We're definitely going to have to do them more often and hopefully get everyone out!

We went to Tim's rugby practice Wednesday night just to get out of the house. I also needed to walk some.. my right foot has been hurting for about 2 weeks now and resting it doesn't seem to be helping. I walked about half a mile with Auggie in the stroller. He enjoyed being outside. We sat on a blanket for awhile. I need to remember next time to bring a giant square blanket so Auggie can't see the dirt! He wanted the dirt, acorns, crushed leaves and everything but the blanket until I was able to steal his attention away from them. We sat under an oak tree, so you know how much stuff collects under there. Not to mention the ants. Not just fire ants but tree ants and then 2 other kinds of ant-looking insects. It was a good thing we went to practice, though. Tim tweaked his knee while trying to cut during a drill. Figures, huh? There wasn't even another guy involved! So hopefully, it hurts because he's been running three times a week along with rugby two times a week. That's all we need is a serious knee injury!
Here are some pictures from Wednesday evening:

Amna has been tagging us in their wedding pictures on Facebook so I thought I'd share!

We're coming up on Auggie's 9 month pictures! Can't believe he'll be 9 months old in a few weeks! I gotta figure out what I'll be doing for them!

Quick! It's Naptime!

I need to hurry and get a blog in or before I know it, it'll be Thursday!! I have save the dates to finish (stillll looking for the "right" design), birthday cards to make and a few more cards to send to the church for their mission trip next week. I definitely need to use today and tomorrow wisely!

We took Auggie to the doctor Monday afternoon for a "is my baby okay??" check up... or in my words- first time mom OMG moment! Auggie developed a "wet" cough over the weekend. He didn't have any other symptoms so we gave it the weekend to go away. Well, it didn't go away and didn't get worse but we figured we'd try for an appointment anyway. Dr. T said it didn't seem serious but understands why we brought him in. We were told when we met Dr. K to be really cautious about any type of sickness Auggie gets because his airway is small. So, of course, we jumped up to see the doctor when he started to cough. He had a 99.1 degree fever- nothing serious- so Dr. T said to keep an eye on it. So we'll see what happens. While we were there, Tim gave into Auggie... he gave him paper. You know, that paper sheet they cover most hospital examination beds? He had a blast with it! He got a little too excited a couple times and bumped his head on the mirror. The first time didn't phase him but man, that second time... he did not like that! I'm debating if I should post the video or not.. It's a cute video until he falls... then its just sad. So we'll see..

Our weekend was pretty uneventful. We stayed in town (shocking, huh?).

Auggie started to sit up from the crawling position on Friday. That's exciting news for us! Now we don't have to pick him up when he wants to sit up! He can also pull up in his crib. The top rail is higher than everything else in the house so it took him awhile on that one. He still likes to kneel and keep his hands on the top rail. He stood there for about 10 minutes Friday while I put together his farm toy. He looked genuinely interested in the toy and once he was able to play with it, he didn't know what to do! When Jacob came on Sunday with Jane and Sherwin, he played with him and Auggie got it! He really enjoys it now.

I guess that's about it for now. I'll have more for you on Thursday!

Tim and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary on Monday by going out to eat at Outback Steakhouse (Thanks, Jane & Sherwin!). It was delicious! In a couple weeks, we'll be celebrating with some friends by floating the Comal River... I really can't wait for that trip since it'll be my first time!

We would have been in California this week but two years ago....

A Texty Thursday

Our days are flying by.

Auggie will be 8 months on Sunday. I can't believe it! Can you? I feel like it was just yesterday we were taking him home from Dell! I guess time flies when you're having fun? I wouldn't say that's exactly what has been going on... It has been nice but not exactly fun. The days are just going by way too quickly.

I've been thinking about Auggie's first birthday party. When/if we start planning for more children, I will not be having any of children born during cold/flu season OR during deer season! With Auggie's birthday being so close to Thanksgiving and Deer Season, we're definitely limited on the weekends we can have it. I'm sure it will be the 12 or 19 since Tim works the first weekend (Opening Weekend) and then Thanksgiving weekend is the 26. But enough of his party... I'll deal with the details because I'm sure you aren't interested in what I'm planning.

Auggie has been doing well. He had his last speech therapy appointment with Mandy. She will be missed. Tim and I really liked working with her. I hope the next therapist is just as nice. It was the first time I noticed Auggie acting a little shy. He sat there and just looked at Mandy and her assistant instead of crawling around and playing with his toys. He eventually warmed up to them but I thought it was funny seeing him react that way. Mandy said we need to work on his babbling. Seeing videos of Reagan, Liam, Colin and Delaney really show how Auggie's sounds aren't quite like theirs. I know, every baby develops at different rates but still, speech is a big thing. Otherwise, developmentally, he's doing great!

We're looking into getting a gate to block off access to the dining room, bedrooms and kitchen. I feel bad keeping him from other areas of the house but I'd be constantly chasing him out of the dining room and kitchen if we didn't have a gate. Auggie has perfected crawling in less than a month. WOW! He's quick! He's gotten a lot more confident when he pulls up on tables and chairs. I'm just ready for him to not let go and lean like someone is going to catch him all the time! But then again, I'm not ready because that means, he'll be closer to walking... and then we'll be in big trouble!

There was some good news I shared on Facebook last week but never put on here. We finally made a break through with our insurance and Auggie's ENT. Auggie is getting his BAHA! Or should I say BAHAs!! Tim called our insurance to see if there really was anything he could do since the ENT office kept telling us we couldn't do anything but wait for them. Of course, Tim heard an answer right away and that next week, we heard the answer from the doctor's office! Figures, huh? Well, then the nurse told us there might be a new model coming out in July so we could probably wait until that one came out so Auggie wasn't wearing an older model. Then we heard we needed a new referral from Auggie's pediatrician since the ENT office change hospital affiliations. So now we're just waiting on the referral! We'll make an appointment to measure Auggie's head. The office said we could do it but they needed exact numbers since we'll order TWO BAHAs for him.

I keep emphasizing the TWO BAHAs for a reason. If the nerves in both ears work correctly, wearing TWO BAHAs will mean he'll have directional hearing! YAY! It'd be great to see him look at us without looking around to see where we are first!

So now we're just waiting... again.

Going Over and Going Under

Auggie is becoming a skilled crawler! He's able to crawl over my legs and attempt to crawl over my body when I'm laying on the floor. When he gets to edge of the carpet (where the linoleum begins), he starts bear crawling. We have a small rug over the edges since there's an Ethernet cord running into the living room and I always tripped over it. I guess, Auggie doesn't like the feel of the rug because he stops bear crawling and then crawls normally on the linoleum.

Sunday, he began trying to crawl under things. He crawled under MawMaw and PawPaw's coffee table.  Monday, he crawled under our coffee table and his exersaucer. By the end of the day, I think he learned to keep his head down at certain points when he's under the coffee table.

Auggie's teeth have really been bothering him lately. Or, well, I should say his gums have been bothering him because he still hasn't had a tooth come through. It just makes me wonder, have they not come through because of the Treacher-Collins or are they just taking their sweet (but painful) time.  Tim and I feel so bad for him when he's really fussy because his gums are bothering him.

Our Fourth of July was just another day. We didn't do anything. I was tired all day (I didn't fall asleep until 3 am and even then it was a horrible sleep!) and Auggie wasn't exactly in the best of moods. The city of College Station was putting on a laser light show at the Amphitheater and the George Bush Library. We would have gone but Auggie's bed time was before the events started. I'm sure they were good but 4th of July is nothing without fireworks... Okay- it is something- we get to celebrate our freedom and honor the people who help keep us free but you know what I mean. Fireworks are a tradition I hated growing up but now love them.

Auggie got to wear his 4th of July onesie for most of the day... and it actually said "MY 1st 4th of July!" For some reason it is so hard to find first outfits that say "My 1st..." Most of them say "Baby's 1st..." I don't know why it drives me nuts but it does.. Thank you Wal Mart for your $3 onesie! He'll probably wear it again later today.

A Fire Wheel came up in the front flower bed just in time for the holiday!
We went to Giddings on Saturday to celebrate the baptism of Joseph Cole Kalbas. He was absolutely adorable! I was so glad we were able to attend their celebration!

After the baptism celebration, we hung out for the day since everyone was in town. It was a nice day to be outside with everyone!
